AM General first began marketing a civilian version of its M998 Humvee in 1992. For its public consumption release, AM General repackaged the SUV under the moniker “Hummer.” Within six years, General Motors purchased the name and created a small fleet of vehicles—the Hummer H1, Hummer H2, and the Hummer H3. While GM based the H1 on its military ancestor, the latter models were molded upon more civilian-market GM platforms.
While the Hummer line, for the most part, fell out of favor with the public by 2008, those looking for a used Hummer for sale, either the H1, H2, or H3, have a great chance of finding what they desire through online auctions.
